FONTERENZA

FONTERENZA

In the heart of Montalcino, Fonterenza embodies a deeply personal and artisanal vision of Tuscan winemaking. Guided by biodynamic principles and an unwavering respect for terroir, the estate creates wines of remarkable purity, energy, and understated elegance.

Fonterenza is a small, biodynamically farmed estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, dedicated to wines of purity, energy, and authentic terroir expression. Founded by twin sisters Margherita and Francesca Padovani, the estate has become one of the most distinctive artisanal voices in the appellation, with a philosophy rooted in nature, manual work, and minimal intervention.

Set in the commune of Montalcino, Fonterenza combines family heritage with a deeply personal vision of winemaking. The farm has been in the family since the 1970s, while the vineyard project began in the late 1990s, when the sisters chose to transform the property into a living, biodynamic estate centered on respect for the land and the character of Sangiovese.

At Fonterenza, every detail reflects a commitment to natural balance and site expression. Trade and producer profiles describe biodynamic farming, manual vineyard work, and a low-intervention approach that allows the wines to express the distinct identity of Montalcino with clarity, freshness, and depth.

The result is a refined portfolio led by Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino, alongside olive oil and other small-production wines that reflect the soul of the estate. With its intimate scale, artisanal spirit, and uncompromising focus on quality, Fonterenza offers a sincere and elegant interpretation of one of Tuscany’s great wine territories.
